Holly Roose

Holly Roose received her Ph.D. in History with an emphasis in Black Studies from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 2017. Her research focuses on Black Nationalism, specifically the Garvey movement in the American West. Her book, Black Star Rising: Garveyism in the West, will soon be released through Texas Tech University Press. Holly currently serves as the director of the Promise Scholars program at UC Santa Barbara, a program that currently funds and supports nearly five hundred low-income, first-generation, and underrepresented undergraduate students at the university.
