M.E. "Jack" Swisher

Mark E. "Jack" Swisher was born in Texas and moved to Medford as a child in 1953, and enjoyed visiting his grandparents' log homestead cabin at Yank Prairie near Brookings. He trained as a biologist, taught school in Myrtle Creek, and spent several decades guiding fly casters on rivers of southern Oregon and hauling freight in the seven western states. He retired to Fort Rock from 2005 - 2015 and served on the board of the Fort Rock Valley Historical Society. His research interests are Great Basin prehistory and Quaternary geomorphology.
